About
The ECE Student Advancement Committee (ECESAC) is a group of undergraduate students committed to shaping and improving the student experience within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UIUC.
We collaborate directly with department leadership to advocate for student needs, organize impactful events, and provide feedback on policies, courses, and culture.
Our Mission
The ECE Student Advancement Committee supports student involvement and participation in the ECE community. We sponsor many activities every semester, and represent the ECE student body's concerns in communication with the department administration.
We turn our student
feedback into action.
Initiatives
Each semester, ECESAC organizes and supports initiatives that enrich the ECE undergraduate experience, including:
- Town Halls that give students a platform to share feedback directly with faculty
- Technical Electives and Research Fairs that help students make informed academic decisions
- Social and mentorship programs like Big Sib/Little Sib and wellness-focused events that foster community and support mental health
We also work closely with department leadership to voice concerns about curriculum, advising, facilities, and the overall student experience.
Structure
Our structure is designed to balance collaboration and impact, ensuring that every project we take on is well-organized and student-focused. The organization is split into the following:
Focuses on helping ECE students navigate academics and explore opportunities within the department. The committee organizes events like the Technical Electives Fair, Research Fair, and faculty panels, while connecting students with courses, research, and other academic resources.
Turns student ideas and concerns into initiatives that can make ECE a better place. The committee identifies areas for improvement, develops new projects, and works with students and the department to advocate for meaningful change.
Builds community within ECE by creating opportunities for students to meet, relax, and have fun together. The committee organizes events like Big Sib/Little Sib, movie nights, and seasonal socials that bring ECE students together outside the classroom.
Keeps ECE students informed about ECESAC events, opportunities, and initiatives. The committee manages social media, flyers, the ECESAC website, and other communications to make sure students know what’s happening and how they can get involved.
